Hot Boring Afternoon

Such lovely fresh flowers. The first things that caught my eye during our shopping trip at Kroger. I must have stared at them for over 5 minutes. They're a beautiful reminder, that the extreme heat of summer is not all that bad.
Meandering over to the produce isle, rustling through the packages of over priced green stuff. Finally settling on more of the fruit section this trip. A lady who was peddling strawberries invited us to taste. Driscolls was on sale, so I bought a 4lb. container full.

This bag of Nectarines was next on my list since the cost was fairly low. considering how high they were a week ago. 1.99 a bag today. California grown and real sweet if you let them sit out for a day or so. Adding a cucumber or so to the basket. They got real high all the sudden. 67cents a peice for christ sake. I planted some earlier on in the garden but they burned up in no time from the heat.

This is the only thing I have left growing. Pear tomatoes and 3 or 4 different types of peppers. They like the heat.

Now on to real reason I'm uncontrolably blogging the last day or two. Boredom has set in. Work had become slower, and I'm just plain ole' tired. The older I've gotten, it seems the heat gets to me quicker. I don't watch TV as often any more. There are not to many shows that interest me long enough to get through them. "American Idol" keeps me occupied during the spring months. A new show aired behind Idol, "The Voice". It was pretty good, but not like Idol. Then you have "Americas Got Talent". If you can put up with it in the beginning with all the nuts auditioning for a top spot, you can stand to see the airing of better talent as they make Las Vegas.

It's so damn hot. I hate to ride my horse in this heat. With it still being 95 degrees come 9:00 pm, I can't find one good reason, to subject our animals of what could really, become a guilty pleasure. The dogs have a nice air conditioned kennel. All the dogs get persnickity when it comes time to let em' out to excercise. They don't like this heat any more than we do. Thank goodness for the little kiddy pools you can buy at Wal-mart. It's like having their own private pool area.

Enough for now...

Ok, so I'm not really complainin'...

I've been trying send pictures to my blog via iphone and they won't go through. Just one more thing I have to actually read the directions for! lol

Now to continue this from my desktop, what I was going to start earlier. It's blistering hot outside today. And going to get hotter. 93 degrees and climbing just short of half past noon. A dusty haze in the air, no breeze blowing what so ever and no relief insight. Taking a look at the garden, the pond, grasses that were once green, trees that seem to be stifled by the drought, the horses lumbering around slowly, reminds me how lucky we are to have airconditioning.

Purslane seems to be the only thing that likes this hot Texas heat.

Garden Pond

Even the Pond Lillies are hiding from the sun.

Pickeral Rush. I love these Bog plants.

Scorched Tomatoes

Handsome lumbering around looking for the only bit of green grass available.

Jerzey coming in from the dry lot.

Grove of Oak trees north east of the house.

Ha! Cactus growing near the border fence of the back pasture.

Old tractor...

Equine transportation...

Happy knows how to stay cool.

Isn't he cute!? And yup...the one who followed us home. He knew what good folks were when he saw'em..

And Ron wondering why I'm out on the place taking pictures of the heat wave.
Good grief. Its 2 am and now I've really started something. Let's here it for mobile blogging!

Guns don't kill people...

Grandpas with pretty Grandaughters do!
